Finally, moment we have been waiting for, Thomas and I are retired!
We have been looking forward to this moment to enjoy our trip to Tuscany. And so we flew from cloudy London and landed in Pisa, and from there, after having done a beautiful photo to the leaning tower, we started again by train to reach Siena.
What a wonderful city Siena is…. really beautiful! Romantic, quaint and magical. I can define it harmonious, with its red bricks holding back the red landscape. And then, how well you can eat there!
Florence welcomed us with some rain. Thank God that the B&B we had chosen was very close to the station! We slept at La Residenza Dell’Orafo and I can say that we were really satisfied: clean rooms, cheerful staffs (Raffaella, your smile is contagious!) and the location is really convenient: a few minutes from the Duomo and from the market of San Lorenzo (where we ate a very good “Lampredotto”!) and from many other buildings!
What we have seen in Florence
What can we say except that Florence is a magnificent City and we will never forget it!
The Uffizi Museum is full of marvels, from Botticelli and Caravaggio’s paintings to the incomparable artists such as Leonardo and Michelangelo.
Majestic works such as Santa Maria Novella Cathedral full of Art history and the Santa Croce Cathedral, without forgetting the Duomo of Santa Maria del Fiore with its impressive Dome.
The Ponte Vecchio is just unforgettable and of an extraordinary beauty nestled between the greatest symbols of Florence, full of goldsmiths’ workshops that I have visited enraptured by the sparkles of the numerous shop windows, not to mention the many historical palaces of the city like Palazzo Pitti residence of powerful Medici and Lorena families as well as Palazzo Strozzi and Palazzo Vecchio in Signoria’s Square.
Therefore in Florence there are many things to visit and we will have so many others because this was just a taste! All we need to do is plan our next trip while we are returning back home!
